World statistics on the number of internet shoppers
Sante J. Achille Jan 28, 2008 Nielsen has published new statistics on the overall online shopping trends - Over 875 Million Consumers Have Shopped Online - the Number of Internet Shoppers Up 40% in Two Years.
Among Internet users with Internet access using it shop, the highest percentage shopping online is found in:
- South Korea (99%)
- UK (97%)
- Germany (97%)
- Japan (97%)
- US (94%)
The most popular and purchased items are:
- Books (41% purchased in the past three months)
- Clothing/Accessories/Shoes (36%)
- Videos / DVDs / Games (24%)
- Airline Tickets (24%)
- Electronic Equipment (23%)

My name is Sandy Guerra i am from Colombia, i am a University student and i have been doing some research about the “e commerce” i found your press release on the internet, and i am very interesting in your knowledge about some stadistics world wide users of internet, and the top countries of online shopping, if you could help me out with anything just anything you may tell me about the actual status of the (e commerce) i would be very thankfull.
pd: you think e commerce will be free? or ruled by some international agency.

My name is Carinne and i’m a student from University Malaysia Sabah and we are doing a research about online selling raw food such as vegetables, meaats, and spices. We decide to do it in Singapore country. Is there any possibility that you can help us out by provide us how big e-commerce market in Singapore and also statistics of online buying in Singapore. It is surprizing to see South Korea on the top.
I would like to know how much is the total spending country wise because I’m sure that would be interesting.
