I read an announcement by Rakuten that consumers can soon view the information about the products sold at Rakuten by entering product codes on Rakuten catalogue into Rakuten’s mobile site.
This sounds great, but why stop there?
This is what I want:
Most products sold have a bar code. Can manufactures make it so that when I scan the bar code with web-accessible cell phone, it will show the product information page on their web site? I’m sure there would be a website that gives me a list of products similar to what I scanned with price comparison. I would love to use this type of service.
By the way, if any companies develop this service, I want a profit share! lol

Check out a company named Neomedia Technologies. They have a product called Qode for mobile devices. That scans the bar codes and so much more.
They have also aquired Gavitec. Which scans codes from the mobile device.
There is your in for the profit share.
Do your own DD before purchasing.
