.asia domain name to be launched

 

Foxnews reports that an organisation known as “DotAsia Organization Ltd” has had its application to run domain names in asian languages under the top level domain ‘.asia’ approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.
The domains will cover China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam and other asian countries.

Russian internet usage at 25%

 

A new poll by the National Public Opinion centre has concluded that 25% of Russians now use the internet. This is a significant increase on the 19% figure taken 6 months ago.
1/5th of internet users visit forums, watch films and listen to music and 11% play online games.

An article in the TimesOnline suggested the EU was trying to start requiring video bloggers to be regualted just like any other broadcast media.
How they could police this will be the challenge. If the US cannot stop gambling sites I don’t see the EU stopping bloggers.

Paid search in the UK up 57.7% to £531.3m

 

The IABUK, reported in the Guardian says that paid for search advertising or pay per click, has risen by 57.7% this year over last.

Online advertising to exceed 10% of budgets in 8 markets by 2008
