The 2nd Internet and Business conference will take place in Moscow on the 18th-20th of April. Some of the topics set to be covered include:

Exponential growth of internet in Russia
Contextual advertising/pay for placement systems and future developments
Electronic payments, problems and solutions
Mobile internet
Applying the lessons of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

The conference itself is free of charge, and hosted at the picturesque Bohr hotel-complex on the outskirts of Moscow (close to Domodedovo airport). The first day (18th) is taken up with training seminars, the conference proper starts on the morning of the 19th.

It was a great conference last year and a good chance to meet the central players in the Russian internet. I’ll be going along this year again so let me know if you are attending.

Is the conference held only in Russian language? It would be otherwise really worth visiting. What was your experience as a foreigner there? Thx.

Hi Andray,
Yes the conference lectures are held in Russian. I’m still learning Russian myself so I have an assistant to help translate. At last year’s conference I met 5 other foreigners and they were doing the same.
The value in the conference is really in the networking. Most, if not all, of the Russian attendees speak English and I had some very useful networking opportunities. The internet market is still quite shallow in Russia, so at a conference like this you actually get to chat face-to-face with all the main players. I picked up some very useful information, it’s a pity I’m not allowed to blog most of it
If you do plan on visiting though, send me an email and I’ll be glad to meet up with you over a beer. I would also be happy to arrange a translator for you/give you information about hotel bookings.
